Jason Scott Campbell |
|
|
|
For this reel, our client, Jason Scott Campbell, came to us with a couple of different scenes. One was a movie he had recently completed with
both a
trailer and a number of select scenes.
Jason had a lot of footage but it was impossible to
incorporate it all into one reel because it would be too long. We came up with
the idea to incorporate a scene from the film he had just finished and have it
lead directly into the already edited trailer. It came out very nicely because
it's intense and grabs the viewer's attention.
We then
took the best scene from another film Jason had worked in... a scene that was
the complete opposite of the other. It was also trimmed down in certain areas
because the original was a bit too slow.
Even though Jason has only two
different scenes in his reel, they showcase some of his best work and
demonstrate a tremendous amount of range in under 4 minutes. |

Alberto Bonilla |
|
Alberto came to us with a whole slew of
footage. It was all quite good, but the scenes themselves were too long. Alberto
really wanted
to showcase his versatility as an actor by incorporating all the scenes.
Therefore the only solution was to reedit
most of the scenes. Examples of how some of the scenes were reedited can be
found on the Reedited Scenes page.
We went ahead and created a brief montage to immediately
show the viewer what was to be expected. We don't usually do excessive montages because in general with the right music and flashy
editing one could make a piece of dog shit look fun and exiting. In this case we use the montage only to open the reel with a bang
and within a matter of seconds quickly show the viewer
what is to be expected. Alberto
added this reel to his website where he is now able to immediately showcase
his talents to anyone, anytime. |

Chaz Mena |
|
In this reel our client, Chaz Mena, needed to have a speed reel put together. Chaz had a lot of
great footage but needed it to be under 2 min 30 secs. Looking at Chaz Mena's footage, it was all great stuff and it was so diverse that we
decided it wouldn't do Chaz justice if we didn't try to fit it all in. Therefore, we recut and trimmed every scene (some examples can be
seen in the reediting section) so that there was just enough time to establish scene, character and Chaz's talents. Additionally, the order
of the footage was crucial. First we displayed
his headshot
(no montage) and went right to a Law and Order clip to immediately establish
credibility. Once that scene finishes we moved to footage from a film where Chaz plays a completely different type of character. We then
went back to another Law and Order scene where Chaz plays yet another very
different character. As the reel goes on, we constantly surprise the viewer with bold and highly diverse scenes. The
end result is a solid representation of Chaz's talents and versatility that leaves the audience wanting to see more and, even more so, wanting
to see Chaz in their casting office. |

Jessica Myhr |
|
In this reel our client, Jessica Myhr,
wanted to showcase the sultry characters that she usually auditions for as
well as something quick that she could present to agents and casting directors.
From her generous collection of
scenes, we chose those with the best production values. Jessica has a great
headshot so we went ahead and used that as the opening shot.
We used the network soap first so agents could see that she has already worked professionally.
We then we put in three short clips from independent
films that we reedited for maximum
impact and finished it up nicely with another scene from the network soap.
Jessica has since gotten a lot
of interviews with agents due to this reel. |

David McDonald |
|
Our client, David McDonald, had mostly done theater
work when he came to us to create his demo reel. However, he had just received a
copies of a short film he had completed and an American
Masters special on PBS where he plays Thomas Jefferson.
Without having a lot of footage, we wanted to
really showcase what was there. The reel starts with a quick
montage showing David's different looks with an upbeat score. We then created a trailer from the short film.
This is due to the fact that a lot of the movie
is fantastical and contains very few scenes with extended dialogue. We built the trailer from scratch
and added music effects, etc. We then
shortened all of the dialogue scenes in
order to feature David more prominently. For the final scene where David plays Thomas Jefferson, we added a dark score to give
the scene a more dramatic tone.
Even though David had only two shows from which to
create his reel, we were able to give it a diverse and rich feel by use of
creative editing. |

Chelsea Miller |
|
Our client, Chelsea, came to us
with a ton of footage.
All of her scenes featured strong acting and spoke for themselves, so we didn't feel the need to do anything
special presentation wise.
However, after choosing down the strongest pieces,
some of them were too long or featured other actors too much. Therefore, all of the chosen scenes were reedited. Examples of how some of the scenes were reedited can be
found on the Reedited Scenes page.
Now Chelsea has a professional
reel that showcases her talent in an effective
and professional manner. |

Celeste Moratti |
|
For this project our client, Celeste
Moratti, needed both an Italian and English reel. She had
a lot of footage that was all good. However, some of it required heavy editing to keep the reel moving.
Celeste was great to work with because she really knew what she wanted in each reel.
This gave us more time to edit down some scenes which allowed the reels to really flow.
